End of Second Semester

, Sevilla

My last exam was on May 29 already, which means I have a large break of four months until the university in Germany continues.

I think this semester was easier than the first one. Maybe I got used to it or the modules were just easier, I'm not sure.

My two computer science classes were Mobile Computing and Business Intelligence which I did together with a friend.

In Mobile Computing we developed a mobile app (wow) which together with class attendance was the only way we were graded.
We called it "Project Penguin" 🐧 . It's about tracking health data like number of steps, walked distance, where you were, and phone usage data like which apps you used when and how long.
Then afterward you are able to create a little shareable image by selecting the data you want, and it would arrange them in the image you can share.

For Business Intelligence we also worked on a project together where we analyzed recipe data and trying to find out what the most popular kitchen was, what the healthiest ingredients were, which recipes would economically be advantageous because they contain the same ingredients, and so on.

Both projects were quite fun and I like this approach better than having one single exam in the end on which your whole grade is based. I'm content with both grades.

I also did a Management Skills course at the faculty of economics and bUsInEsS. It wasn't too annoying that it was a different campus because I had like max two university events per day. So after changing campus I could just go home instead of back again.

There was a book we worked through (all in Spanish) and it was a pretty relaxed class. Also, the reading controls the professor did almost every session were comfortable to do if you read the book.

The course work was working together with a company and helping one of their managers to improve their skills. So each student worked with one company. We learned about a certain questionnaire we'd hand out to the employees of the manager. Afterward, we analyzed the responses, identified areas that are going exceptionally well already and areas of improvement. Then we proposed solutions in a presentation and written work.
Here I'm not content with my grade, but I think the grade is unfounded.

In general, I liked the studying here better because it was more practice-oriented learning.
